Finding Fantasy Friday: Friday the 13th

Being born on the 13th of February, I've been surrounded by the number. I always find it funny when you go to a hotel that doesn't have a 13th floor. There is a lot of superstition with that number alone.

When you pair that with a Friday, well, then you have popular horror movies and many people believe it to be a bad day in waiting. I always say I'm just a bit clumsier on Friday the 13ths, but actually, I'm clumsy every day. I just pay attention to it more on those days.

Story: I remember in college my birthday fell on a Friday the 13th. I was headed back to my apartment after class. It was raining. Not particularly hard, but that doesn't matter in New Orleans, any amount can flood something somewhere. That day, it flooded the road separating my apartment complex from the campus. It was maybe a foot deep. I waited for a car to creep by, and attempted my crossing. You would know. My foot landed smack dab in the middle of a pothole. I went down in the middle of the street with many cars trying to get through. I was covered in nasty, muddy street water from head to toe. Happy Birthday to me.

Can't say dumb things like that don't happen to me often because they do, but I seem to remember them just a little more on a Friday the 13th.

Did you know there is a phobia for Friday the 13th called friggatriskaidekaphobia. How funny is that? Say that three times fast.

On top of it being Friday the 13th, it's also a full moon. Apparently, a full moon on Friday the 13th won't happen again until the year 2049, so I think tonight is going to be an interesting one. Not because of the superstition, but because of people's behavior toward it.

My favorite thing to do on Friday the 13th is to curl up on the sofa with some popcorn and watch some scary movies. How do you celebrate it?
